Self defence is not only about kicking or punching, it is about making you safe by taking security measures that will reduce the risk of crime to you, your family and friends.

Reducing the risk of crime is possible. Usually when a crime has been committed it is because of a lack of security measures put into place by a company or individual. Crime can also occur as a result of individuals not following the proper security measures. To protect people property and asset you should conduct a risk assessment of your activities.

4selfdefence recognises that regardless of the security measures put in place crime can happen and may create injury, death, loss of valuables or money. If you are a victim of crime it is important that you report incidents to the police and know where to go to for help.

Summary: Crime is very real. It presents the need for an active awareness program to be put in place to reduce the risk of being attacked or robbed.

When a business or individual is attacked through no fault of their own, they need to be prepared to lose valuables such as money, materials and other items rather than risk injury or death to any person. Businesses and individuals should have comprehensive and various monetary insurance in place to cover loss of money and valuables.

Companies and individuals should also consider regular training in areas such as security awareness, armed robbery awareness, conflict management, fitness, first aid and self defence.

If a company or an individual is a victim of crime, you should have procedures in place for reporting the crime. You should also have appropriate counselling opportunities in place.
